For the citizens of Harrison County…

While most widely known for the 4-H program, WVU Extension provides the public with information on just about any topic, either from personal knowledge, office publications, or on-line resources. The Harrison County Extension Office faculty and staff provide assistance and educational programs. Extension programming reflects the needs and interests within the local community. As a federal, state and local partnership Extension programming brings together knowledge and resources from a host of sources. Not all counties have individual programs, but enter one of the major program areas listed below to learn more!

Community, Economic & Workforce Development

WVU Extension Service’s Community, Economic, and Workforce Development personnel conduct research and provide educational assistance to local communities throughout the state. These activities are in the areas of business retention and expansion, entrepreneurship development, economic development networks, strategic planning, local government finance and special studies of socio-economic trends. WVU Extension has programs in Community Resources and Economic Development, Fire Service Extension training, Labor Studies, and Safety and Health. These programs, individually or combined, make for a valuable tool in maintaining our state’s communities.
