Family Nutrition Program

Everyone has to eat. Buying food, preparing meals, and weekly planning can be difficult at the best of times. At the worst of times, it can be daunting. The Family Nutrition Program helps families and individuals with limited resources make improved food decisions.

The Family Nutrition Program (FNP) works in association with West Virginia University and is funded through the Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program. FNP targets those families that are eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and, with younger audiences, those students that receive free school lunch.

FNP gives families tools they can use in their everyday lives for improved health and money management. These tools include:

In Harrison County FNP has worked in cooperation with several community leaders and organizations. Currently, adult classes are in place to benefit students at SPOKES (Strategic Planning in Occupational Knowledge for Employment and Success) and at the Clarksburg Mission.
